Strawberry started first grade on August 11 at Hermosa Vista elementary. (Her last day of Kindergarten was June 13: less than 2 months of summer vacation--horrible!) She was very excited to start school, especially since we didn't have any furniture at our house yet and our air conditioning was kind of iffy. She loves her teacher and has made lots of new friends. She says that it is definitely definitely definitely harder than Kindergarten, but that she really likes everything about it. Except for the boys. Icky. There is one boy who is tolerable who is also in her class at church. She didn't waste any time making friends with the girls and was chatting away with another girl before school even started that morning. She really misses all her friends from Virginia, especially Ayana, but she is just so happy to be back in Arizona with Grandma and Grandpa and her aunt and uncles that it is okay that we came here. Besides, how many kids in first grade can say they have lived in 7 places and been in three different schools?
For family home evening that night, we talked about temples and got to go to the Mesa temple and look at the beautiful grounds and take some nice pictures. Apple has always been especially excited about temples. Whenever she sees a really tall building or something with a spire, she yells, "Temple, Mommmy!!!" There were three couples there taking pictures in their wedding clothes so we got to talk about getting married in the temple and eternal families. Then we walked by the visitor's center and Apple got to see "her" Jesus. We are so blessed to live 15 minutes from the temple. We have never had such a great opportunity to really attend the temple often, especially since we can go during the day because Luke is in school. This year is going to be a great one for our family and we are all very excited.

Caleb started pre-school this week. Crazy. Very cool, but a little sad too. Congrats Lana!

It is good to hear that Lana is already making new friends. I am glad to know that you are all happy in AZ and loving it! How nice for you to be close to so much family too. What a blessing that is. And 15 minutes from the Temple, awesome!
